About Matthew Moore Photography

I don’t create pretty wedding photos.
I photograph moments, not performances.

Photos for moments, not moments for photos

This is a photo of a younger—and, let’s be honest, less handsome—version of me, sitting in front of some freshly laid wallpaper. I used that exact spot for the first engagement session I ever shot.

What you couldn’t see? Just two feet to the right, the contractor was still laying the wallpaper.

That moment stuck with me. It became the perfect metaphor for how this career has unfolded.

Sometimes, you can only see a few steps ahead. The bridge appears when you reach it. The tracks get laid as you walk. You just keep moving, even when the path isn’t clear.

That’s how I got here. And it’s shaped everything about how I work.

ART THAT REFLECTS LIFE

Perfectly Imperfect Photography

You’ll spend more time with your photographer on your wedding day than almost anyone else.
If that relationship doesn’t feel easy, it shows.

I don’t force connection. I take the time to get to know you so that being photographed never feels like a performance.

When trust is there, people stop thinking about the camera.
That’s when the images start to feel intimate instead of arranged.

who it benefits

Personal Connection

“Natural” means I stay present without being intrusive.

You’re given space to move, talk, and interact the way you actually do.

When I offer direction, it’s minimal and intentional—meant to support the moment, not replace it.

what it means

Natural Images

If there’s no chemistry, there’s nothing to photograph.

I don’t stage moments or manufacture emotion for the sake of a picture.

I look for what’s already happening—the quiet exchanges, the in-between moments, the parts most people miss.

why it matters

Genuine Moments

Jessica, bride

“We never would have gotten such beautiful shots if we weren't comfortable and totally at ease with Matt. That's the big difference - the way he makes his subjects feel. How he can study them and capture special moments, [and] his eye for finding the best composition.

I stay out of the way when things are happening naturally.
When they’re not, I step in—briefly and intentionally.

After years of photographing weddings, I’ve learned that too much direction kills the moment. So I give just enough to keep things moving: a small adjustment, a better angle, a reminder to slow down.

You won’t hear a list of poses.
You’ll hear simple cues that help you relax, connect, and forget about the camera.

The result: photos that feel natural—and happen to look really damn good.

Encouraging Guidance

By the time your wedding day arrives, I’m ready.

I’ve studied the timeline, scouted the light, planned for weather, and mapped out the spaces—before I ever load a camera.

But when things shift (and they always do), I don’t panic or force the plan. I adapt.

I follow the path that protects the moment, not the schedule.
That’s how the most honest images get made.

More About Matthew

People who take themselves too seriously.
Mosquitos. Traffic. Extreme heat.
And phones at concerts—one photo is fine, then put it away. Be there.

Dislikes  |

I take my work very seriously.
I do not take myself seriously at all.

Humor |

                                   Easygoing by nature.
Give me a fire pit, mountains, a guitar, my kids, and a few good friends—and I’m set.

CHARACTER |

When I’m not photographing weddings, I’m probably writing songs, roasting coffee, or making candles—activities that earned me the title “Original Hipster.”
A label I didn’t ask for, but apparently can’t escape.

CREATIVITY |

Clementine (13), Wolfgang (9), and Fritz (6)—aka Fritzophrenic.
My loudest critics. My greatest work.

“Matthew is an undercover perfectionist. He works harder than most and is simply more talented than most. He’s the real deal!”
